Teledyne Instruments is the technological leader in the field of safety-related valve testing. Utilities operating nuclear power plants agree that the correct functioning of all motor-operated valves is of paramount importance.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued Generic Letter 89-10 and other documents related to this concern. Operability must be demonstrated under design-basis conditions if at all practical.

Teledyne Instruments has responded to these requirements by developing two patented technologies for measuring torque and thrust in motor or air operated valves. We also offer specialized data acquisition and data logging equipment to interface with these sensors.

Sensors
QSS - Quick Stem Sensor A pre-fabricated thrust & torque strain sensor that is applied to a shaft in much the same way as a strain gage.
SmartStem Measures stem thrust and torque using bonded resistance strain gages directly mounted on the valve stem.
SPMD Spring pack measurement device.
MVM Motor Voltage Module (MVM) is used to measure motor voltages on 3-phase AC inductive motors.
Springpack A one-for-one replacement of the original Limitorque ™ springpack
Systems
QUIKLOOK II A self-contained valve-testing system used to capture data from our QSS and SMARTSTEM sensors or any strain gage or voltage based transducer.
QL II+ A two-box valve-testing system used to capture data from our QSS and SMARTSTEM sensors or any strain gage or voltage based transducers.
SENTRY Dedicated, permanently installed MOV monitoring system
Software
QUIKLOOK II Valve-testing software used to acquire present and analyze data from our QSS and SMARTSTEM sensors or any strain gage or voltage based transducer.
Spring Pack Calibration Software Valve-testing software used to acquire calibration certificate, graph plot of generic and calibration data, and sensitivity equation.
MOV Design & Test Database Software
(MIDAS & MIDASTEST)		 The most comprehensive MOV Design (MIDAS) and Test (MIDASTEST) Databases available to the industry for utility MOV program control.
Tools
Thread Removal Tool Used for the in-situ removal of valve stem threads to permit the installation of our QSS on a smooth stem area for direct, accurate measurement of stem torque and thrust.
